Femtocells get funded

Ubiquisys gets another $11 million in funding, in part from Google.  A Femtocell is a wonderful device that boosts cell phone signal indoors.  The pricing plans for using one, though, are something to watch out for.  When you hook one up to you home network, you basically donate internet bandwidth (that you pay for) to your cell phone company for the ability to access their cell network (that you already pay for).  So unless you can get your femtocell for free, its not worth it.  Find a carrier that has a better network instead.

Femtocell manufacturer Ubiquisys raises further $11m, acquires new CFO

“The femtocell industry is about to enter a phase of aggressive growth,” according to Ubiquisys CEO Chris Gilbert. “We have already seen the first major operator launches and the autumn will see a number of others unveiling their future plans.”
