Apple and the Enterprise: server availability

A survey by ITIC of self-reported server reliability information, this year includes Macs running OS X.  See the snippet.  I believe it says “exteremely competitive”.  And without letting too much out of the bag, IBM lead the pack, with 25 minutes less down time and HP UX seemed to tie the Mac systems by also showing about 40 minutes unplanned downtime per annum.

This year’s survey for the first time, also incorporated reliability results for the Apple Mac and OS X 10.x OS platform. The survey respondents indicated that Apple products are extremely competitive in an enterprise setting. IT managers spend approximately 15 minutes per server to apply patches and Apple Macs recorded just under 40 minutes of per server, per annum downtime.
